RE: Cabin near Yosemite?

Yosemite Pines My mom and I stayed in a cabin here. It had everything but food, and the drive to the valley floor is an hour (but so gorgeous I wished it'd taken longer!)

Anyone in Kino yet?

We don't get to go this year and I'm SO homesick! Tell me what's going on, who's there, did you go to Jorge's or LaPalapa yet, is there any evidence of the "huge marina" they're supposed to start building? Barb

RE: Members of RV Resorts

The best part of WHR is the Kino Bay Mexico (option). You might not get tons of responses from WHR members, as WHR is apparently having cash flow issues, have closed a couple of parks, they don't answer emails, and they don't ever update members on what's going on. Agree, get ROD. We use that and AOR far more than WHR, except for Kino Bay.

RE: Breakdowns.

After nearly 3 years fulltiming, our truck's in the shop 3 days now and our fiver's parked on the street next to the dealer. Injector pump, 2 injectors replaced so far and still not running. (We were towing it to a friend's farm to store for the winter, as we had to rent a house for a year: family issues.) The tow was covered, and the diesel engine's still under warranty (5 years/100,000 miles) but the rental car I need for work isn't covered per National Interstate. And yes, watching my house and truck being towed is heart-stopping.

RE: Dog rattle snakes

Some of the folks that live "Up The Hill" from WHR Kino Bay have taken their dogs to Rattlesnake School (Tucson, I think) where they condition the dog to avoid the snakes. Maybe other places have those classes?

RE: Carpet Replacement Dilemma. Now what do I do??

Tobill! I think most of the larger RV dealer/service companies offer this. All the big ones here do (Minnesota), even the small one near us. Also, I emailed 8 or 10 "carpet guys" on Craigslist and 5 answered that they'd do it. I still haven't done it yet, though...

RE: The ultimate Cristmas present for the Full Time RVer!

Comes in white only, it says. Or YOU could just go first so it's still warm...

RE: Paying Bribes!

There's a guy in Hermosillo by the airport, don't know if he's transit or police, well-known spot to Kino Rvers. His reason for stopping us (no rig, just 4 friends going to CostCo) was "lighting a cigarette in a school zone and not paying attention". Wanted $100, and DH just did the no-espanol thing, kept saying let's go to the Department, and he eventually just let us go, but it took a long time. He wasn't about to let us find out if THAT law was on the books!

RE: Cat Rules

I wore two different colored clogs to work yesterday because I got dressed in the dark so I wouldn't wake the cat.

Freedom Elite through Camping World?

Our August CW "magazine" RV View has a 2 page ad for a fiver that I really like, but cannot find anywhere through googling. It's called "Freedom Elite MK39" and all I can find is "Model 374", I may stop at my local CW today and ask about it, but doubt they'll have any more info. I really like the features in this fiver, aside from the (butt-ugly gaudy) decor. However, I've never before seen a floorplan that places the toilet as close to the bed as this. Seems to be a short wall between them, though, maybe it's enough. Another HMMM... is the laundry center in the kitchen. Would it be too noisy while watching TV in the LR? Anyone have one? Has anyone else seen this ad and had luck finding out any more?

RE: Looking for a take it all trailer

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/204869/coolrig.JPG Saw this combo heading "Up North" in Minnesota yesterday, DH very jealous (we are fiver-people) and I remembered this thread. Also found this: Lots of stack trailers here.

Progressive Happy Hour Hors D'oeuvres. Carry your own beverage cooler. Decorate your door (holiday theme, tent flaps, too) ____est Dog (biggest, ugliest, smartest, everyone gets a prize.) Kids hot-dog eating contest (or corn on the cob) Wind-chime-making from stuff found in campground. (Need tin-snips and gloves for cutting cans) Bunko is great Texas Hold'em Chili cookoff (our winner's had pineapple in it!) Ladies' Lunch Out (and the men have to come drive'em home)

RE: What does everyone do during normal days?

Get a dog. One that sheds, it'll keep you busy.

RE: neck fusion tomorrow

I had 3 fusions on my neck, wore the brace for a month after each. The worst part was where they removed donor bone for grafting from my hipbones. So much screaming pain. Our bedroom was upstairs, DH had to carry me. I have no pain anymore, but I can't fold sheets (you know how you secure the fold under your chin...?)

RE: Favorite Place to camp in California?

When we used to tent camp in the 80s and 90s, we loved Mineral King at Sequoia National Park. I don't recall amenities other than trees, a running creek, huge furry marmots, and horseback riding up to a gorgeous clear mountain lake with trout in it.
